UltraSeven X

UltraSeven X is the new line of the Ultraseries of characters (21st to be exact) to celebrate the 40th annivesary of the original Ultraseven (1967).  Darker and living in a PKDickish world.

Have a look at the new series (Sceduled to be 12 episodes), The environment reminds one of Blade Runner, the major hick is that it's not recorded on film but on Widescreen Video witch just doesn't have the same feel, but we better get use to it, it's what things are made out of now.

UltraSeven X looks good

Thanks for the links. I watched the first episode and it was pretty cool looking. I did like the Blade Runner look to it. Are these characters related to the Ultraman series?

X is the adult version

Utraseven X is not really following the other shows, this one is targeted at a much older audience, and actually, is broadcasted around Midnight in Japan.  Not the best slot but this is only the second attempt at an adult version of the Ultraman show.  The first one (neXus) was a flop because the studio chickened out at the last minute and released it on Saturday mornings instead of the suggested afternnoon showing and the young kids did not like it, so it was cancelled before it ended.  This time they are only making 12 episodes to see if it will work or not.  Hopefully it will take off and maybe we will see more adult scifi from Japan.

So far SciFi in Japan has mostly series for young people:

- Ultras (Ultraman and the likes) Running strong since 1966
- Kamen Riders (Masked motorcycle riders) Running since 1970
- Super Sentais (Power rangers and the likes) Running since 1980

And of course movies are mostly Kaiju like Godzilla and Gamera.

Gotta find the time.

Thanks for the links, but I still haven't found the time to view even the first one yet. Unfortunately, this stuff is a bit beyond David, so I've got to find 'alone' time, which is even harder to come by.

Rember

I loved the shows when I loved in Japan some years ago, lets say more then 10.  Even so, I grew up with some good friends that I get to see once a year do to my jobs one benny, Military hop.  So I take my pilgramage back to Japan to meet with my friends, and the give me a box of GOODIES.  VCR tapes full of Shows that was recorded. Nice thing is now days, with computers, I get it digitally.   Though I do love the entire Japanese shows, I still can't get enough of them, and along with Die Cast stuff they get for me.

Since I grew up watching Seven, and many of the Kamen Riders, I loved them.  So I took care of my friends with stuff they wanted from the US.

Now, Seven is darker, but always has.  I love it.  I will have to get the rest of the stuff from them when I go again.  My kids hate me due to the fact that I won't let them play with the Orginal Mechs and Die casts I got from Japan.  But I am the kid with them, so there my toys.

There is only one question I have, and hopping someone might jog my memory on this show.  There was one epsiode where all the ultramen, and basically MOM, and POP shows up.  Anyone remember where this was.

The 6 Ultra Brothers

I think you might be refering to the 1974 TV movie called "The 6 Ultra Brothers Vs. the Monster Army"

, They also reappeared recently together in the 2006 movie called "Ultraman Mebius & Ultraman Brothers"

Taro and Leo

Or if not in the movies than Mother appeard often on the Ultraman Taro (1973) and Ultraman Leo (1974) series.  I can't remember which episodes though.  They also appeared togehter in a rare special Ultra episode called "Ultraman Story" (1984) which retels the birth of Ultraman Taro.
